Faced with the white cube of a gallery, I asked myself: Can an installation be a sculpture, can a sculpture be a collage, and can a collage be an installation? Like most of my works, Selling My Monkeys is based on found materials. I used frog and monkey masks from a party supply shop, which I transformed via a traditional ceramic process into sculptures reminiscent of death masks. The glossy black tiles on the floor added a cold industrial feel to the installation, while articulating a stark contrast with the matte white cube.
Material: glazed ceramics, plaster, wood, fabric, black tiles
Dimensions: 0,87 x 2,86 x 1,49 m
